Traveling the World by Faith | About Me
Hi! My name is Alyssa Roman and I’ve been traveling the world for 13 years with no plans of stopping. This is my endless journey, my way of life.

A Dream to Travel the World
I remember being a kid going on vacation with my mom. We went to Mexico, Germany, the Bahamas and to fun places in our own backyard like the Florida Keys, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and New York City. Life was good growing up but vacation was always the best part.
I wished it would never end!
This is when I believe God gave me this crazy faith that my life could be different. Even though I was raised in a small town where most people never leave, I just knew I would. I could see myself traveling the world.
It all started with my first one-way ticket from my home state of Florida across the country to San Francisco, California. The San Francisco Bay Area is a world apart from the Tampa Bay area. I was in complete and total awe when I first stepped off the plane.
Everything from the lights on the hillside to the colorful Victoria homes and the rolling fog to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, I was mesmerized. The best part was that I never had to leave! I could explore to my heart’s content with no departure date looming on the horizon.
Of course I did eventually hear the call to GO again, but the whole thing about this way of life that I love so much is when I go somewhere I can stay until I’m ready to leave.
It was from that trip onward that I embraced the endless journey as my way of life.
Travel Tip: It’s One Leap of Faith After Another
You might be wondering, “How is that even possible?”
That’s part of what I show you here but it all comes down to having faith.
You’re never going to have it all figured out. You may not even know your next steps but as long as you have faith and the boldness to act on it, you’re going somewhere.
That’s all I ever had and I’ve been to over 30 countries!
Throughout my journey, I’ve done a whole bunch of different things to stay on the road, some of which I don’t recommend (like staying with guys from dating sites) and plenty of which I do (like WWOOF and Workaway). Take it from someone who has tried it all and learned the hard way.
If you also feel called to live the travelers way of life, you will have to try and see what works for you.
There isn’t one secret way. I don’t have a trust fund. I didn’t work and save money first. I left home with $200 to my name. In 13 years, I’ve rarely had a remote job but sometimes I did. My transportation and accommodations have ranged from free to low cost and even though traditional options do tend to get more expensive, the possibilities for traveling the world are truly endless.
I’m so happy to share all that’s worked for me!
God is Greater than Traveling the World
To be honest, I didn’t even know God for my first decade in travel. I didn’t know him but he sure did know me. He was watching over me. He provided for me and protected me throughout all the utterly stupid and reckless choices I made.
Every single time I set out, it hasn’t made sense. It’s been seemingly impossible and totally crazy to think it would work out. In fact, it is impossible without the goodness of God. I’ve found that when I surrender my plans to God, he makes life so much sweeter than I could even dream.
I’m grateful to have a relationship with my heavenly Father now. I talk to him in prayer and listen for his voice and guidance. I do my best to follow his lead. It’s a blessing to know he wants to go with me wherever I go regardless. Thankfully, we can’t escape his love.
Whether or not you have a relationship with God, if you like to travel then this blog is for you. I write comprehensive travel guides for a multitude of places and experiences around the world. If you come to know God and grow in your faith, even better.
I believe there is an eternal story we are all a part of and Jesus is the way, the truth, the life [John 14:6].
Shout out to Lauren Juliff, this post of yours gave me the push I needed to start travel blogging.
